Resident Spotlight
Nancy's favorite food is grilled cheese, although she does love candy too! She doesn't listen to much music because sounds bother her. If she could have any superpower, it would be the ability to make other people feel at rest and at home. My favorite season is summer because she doesn't like being cold, and there's more to do.
She grew up in Mason City, Iowa, and one of her fondest memories is spending time with her dad. Her advice to others is, "When you're communicating with people, stop and put yourself in their place." She was an only child and was spoiled to death! Her family included her mom, Helen, her dad, Eugene (who everyone called EC), and her grandmother.
They all lived together, and her grandmother was a wonderful cook. She never let her or her mom cook, which meant she always had great food—but she never learned how to cook! What she likes most about Caraton Commons is the help and support she receives. At 90 years old, there are many things she can't do herself anymore, and she appreciates having help with the things she's no longer able to do.

Looking ahead, Eugina hopes to be retired in the next 10 years—but still involved in some way with the elderly, a group she holds close to her heart.
While many know her as a strong presence, one thing people might not realize is that she's an open book and isn't afraid to speak her mind. Eugina's honesty, leadership, and commitment make her a valued part of the team and a trusted advocate for both staff and residents.
